No. Coding, the Remix Library, classes and assignments are free for students, teachers and families.

Nothing. It runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, including on Chromebooks and school-managed laptops.

HTML, CSS and JavaScript for websites, games and apps, and Python 3 for programs.
My game doesn't react to the keyboard.
Click inside the preview first, so it knows your key presses are for the game and not the code.
The preview is blank.
Open the Console above the preview. There's almost always a red error with a line number. See the editor.
Python is taking a while to start.
The first run loads Python into your browser, which takes a few seconds (longer on slow school Wi-Fi). Runs after that are quick.
My program is stuck in a loop.
Press Stop. It always works, even for while True:.
I published but my friend can't see it.
Portfolios start class-only. Your friend needs to be in your class, or your teacher (or you, if you're 13+ on your own) needs to make your portfolio public. Who can see it →
I changed my project but the live site didn't change.
Changes go live when you publish. Press Update site.
Can I get an old version back?
Yes, if you published it. History in the editor lists every version: View it or Restore it.
I lost my secret word.
Your teacher or parent can give you a new one from the class page in a few seconds.
Can my students use their Google or Clever accounts?
Not yet. For now students sign in with a class code and secret word, which needs no email at all.
Can I copy a project from the Library into my class?
Yes: open it and use 📝 Assign, or pick it as the starter when creating an assignment.
Can I use this with my whole school or district?
Teachers can start on their own today. For school-wide setup and data privacy agreements, use the form at the bottom of the home page.
